Warning: This post contains honest, vulnerable information. If you want to learn more about the skin disease that ran havoc on my life {as well as many others}, please continue.

What is Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HR)? Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. They typically develop where the skin rubs together, such as the armpits, the groin, between the buttocks and under the breasts. The lumps may break open and/or cause tunnels under the skin. It is a horribly painful and annoying skin disease. The greatest (not) part about living with HR? There is NO cure. It NEVER goes away (so my doctors all told me).

Risk Factors (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hidradenitis-suppurativa/symptoms-causes/syc-20352306)

Age. Hidradenitis suppurativa most commonly occurs in women between the ages of 20 and 29. An early age of onset may be associated with developing more widespread disease. Your sex. Women are more likely to develop hidradenitis suppurativa than are men. Family history. A tendency to develop hidradenitis suppurativa can be inherited. Having certain other conditions. Hidradenitis suppurativa can be associated with several other conditions, including arthritis, severe acne, obesity, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, metabolic syndrome and diabetes. Smoking. Smoking tobacco has been linked to hidradenitis suppurativa.

I was finally diagnosed with HR my junior year of high school after multiple surgeries and painful doctor's visits. The catch? I had none of the risk factors mentioned above, so my doctor's never suspected this could be HR. I also started having symptoms of HR when I was about 10 years old. That's when my surgeries began. I'd have surgery to have what I would call "cysts" (abrasions on my skin that would open up), then it would get staph and open up. Then the "cyst" would come back and burst open again and then it was back to surgery. It was like clock work. I have scars on my arm, chest, and groin. I was embarrassed while I tried on wedding dresses because of these scars.

When would this stop? I couldn't exercise or wear a bathing suit without feeling uncomfortable. I tried EVERYTHING. Medication, changing my diet (no tomatoes or potatoes, etc.) and NOTHING would work. I googled and prayed that there could be something I could do to end this horrific cycle. I was so self conscious about it that I seriously feared that no one would ever want to marry me because of it (a little dramatic, I know. But the lumps and scars weren't pretty). Finally, after years of searching, I came across something on Google that mentioned Frankincense essential oil (https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/frankincense-essential-oil) and its healing benefits. This was right after my last surgery on my groin in 2015. The doctor had to scrape my muscle because of the density of this abraisian. After the stitches healed, it came back. Again.

I researched Frankincense Essential Oil and discovered how amazing it's healing benefits are (Abd, Hussein, Khalil, 2016). So, I got some. I immediately put Frankincense oil on a bandaid and put it on the lump in my groin. IT HURT LIKE HELL. Yes, I said hell. That is the only way I know how to describe the pain. I had never felt a burn that hurt so bad but felt so good all at the same time. I could tell it was good stuff. I started taking baths in this oil every day. After a few weeks of consistency, my wound healed. COMPLETELY. I was certain this wound would come back (that area in my groin was constantly flared up for five years). My surgery scar isn't the prettiest, but at least it looks normal. That's when I realized that Frankincense was actually gifted to baby Jesus at his birth (Matthew 2:11). I am certain that these plants were placed on earth for our healing. So now, after almost three years being FREE from my HR disease, I decided to share my story and share Frankincense with others. I know I am not the only one who has suffered from this horrible skin disease, and I know there are others out there who have not learned how to heal the wounds like I did. PLEASE. If you suffer from HR, get yourself some of this oil. I don't even care if you buy them from me. Buy them from your friend who sells Young Living Essential Oils. But, please, do not buy oils from the store or other places who claim to have pure essential oils. They are diluted and are NOT the real thing (I have researched and sniffed for myself).

I am passionate about this subject and would love to hear your stories. There are so many different ways Young Living Essential Oils have changed my life. But, there is nothing like feeling confident and joyful in my own skin because of what I did to take control of my health. Please, shoot me an email or a message if you have any questions about my experience or want to talk about any dimension of health (mental, physical, etc.). I'll gladly show pictures of my abraisians and scars. I am no doctor and I don't know everything I'd like to, but I do know my purpose here is to help others.

Please, share this post. I would not have found this cure if it weren't for something someone shared. Be the good, share the love.
